What Our Students Are Saying

Ave Maria students give our faculty high marks both for the quality of their teaching and their accessibility. In a Princeton Review 2009 survey, law students were asked to rate their schools in several categories on a scale of 60 to 99. Ave Maria students gave our faculty the highest rating possible, 99, in the "Faculty Most Interesting" Category and a very high rating of 95 in the "Faculty Most Accessible" Category. To view Ave Maria School of Law's profile in The Princeton Review's Best 174 Law Schools 2009 edition.

University of Cincinnati law professor Paul Caron, on his acclaimed blog TaxProfBlog, extracted available data from all 174 law schoolsprofiled in the Best 174 Law Schools to create his own law school rankings in several categories. According to TaxProf Blog, Ave Maria's rating of 99 puts it in a first-place tie with the University of Chicago for the quality of the faculty, while its rating of 95 places it behind only 12 other schools in accessibility of its faculty.

Students Quotes
"The true reason that Ave Maria’s faculty stand above the rest is that they aren’t just professors to their students. These individuals become an integral part of our law school community as mentors, confidantes, and friends. They become easily accessible resources to students about law as well as life. Unlike other law school faculty, Ave Maria faculty make a point to get to know each and every student not only by name, but as individuals attached to those names. … I would challenge anyone to try to find a faculty in higher education that cares more about their students then the faculty here at Ave Maria School of Law."

~ Dawn Mishra, Class of 2009

"My civil procedure professor is one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. He is incredibly intelligent and willing to work with us no matter his schedule."

~Candace Penkala

"The classroom experience at Ave is made exceptional by the real world experience of the faculty. Learning at Ave is not limited to book reading and theoretical discussions. So many of the faculty have practiced at the top of their field and can seamlessly integrate practical knowledge into the more traditional methods of learning. When a school can educate students as to both the theoretical aspects of law and the real world application of that knowledge, that school is going to produce exceptional lawyers.

One of the great things about our law school community is the accessibility of the faculty. Every time I have needed help with a class or wanted to talk through an issue with a professor, I have found that the professor was always available and willing to talk to me, whether during scheduled office hours or not. Throughout my law school career, it has been very comforting to know that anytime I needed help with anything, my professors were always a resource that I could depend upon."

~Travis Mihelick, Class of 2009
