What is a Judge Advocate General?

Naples, Florida – September 13, 2023 – Ave Maria School of Law

WHAT IS A JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL?

Representatives from the U.S. Armed Services engage with AVELAW students.

Ave Maria School of Law has a significant number of alumni who were or are currently JAG officers with continued growing interests.

Ave Maria School of Law’s Office of Professional Development organized and presented a JAG Day on campus.  Student Veteran Law Student Association President assisted with moderating the panel discussion.

JAG Day affords Ave Maria law students the opportunity to hear from Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy representatives about a career as a Judge Advocate. The day began with student one-on-one interviews with the military branch of interest. A panel of JAG officers shared why their branch is a great way to start a legal career with the military.

Presenters were:

  • Marlene Myers, CAPT, U. S. Air Force
  • Gabriel Young, LT COL, U.S. Air Force and 2004 Ave Maria Law Alumnus (via Zoom)
  • Tahimy Espaillat, MAJ, U.S. Army and 2010 Ave Maria Law Alumni
