Dean's Delegates

What does it mean to be a Dean's Delegate?
About the program

The Ave Maria School of Law Dean’s Delegates Program is an opportunity for our students to serve as official student representatives on behalf of the Law School and the Law School’s President and Dean at a variety of campus and community functions. The Dean’s Delegates showcase the excellence of Ave Maria School of Law to the community and are role models of professionalism, hospitality and character. Delegates are invited by the Dean and must successfully participate in an interview as part of the selection process that also includes academic performance. Dean’s Delegates may be called upon to represent the Law School at social functions both on and off campus and to serve as VIP handlers, special event facilitators, and greeters/ushers. They engage with dignitaries, public officials, community leaders, benefactors, alumni and the general public, exemplifying the best that Ave Maria School of Law has to offer. Dean’s Delegates will also participate in Phone-A-Thon’s to benefactors and friends of the law school to further engage them in our mission.

Mission Statement: The Ave Maria Law Dean’s Delegates program promotes the mission of Ave Maria School of Law through leadership and service that engages the unique talents of Ave Maria Law students in support of institutional advancement.

DEANS DELEGATES RECEIVE:

  • An official Ave Maria School of Law Dean’s Delegate name tag;
  • Recognition in Ave Maria School of Law publications;
  • An invitation to a luncheon with the Dean; and
  • An honor cord to wear at Commencement.

“Being selected to become a Dean’s Delegate was the greatest honor I had at Ave Maria School of Law. The program allowed students to listen, engage, and network with some of the most faithful legal and business leaders in our country. The program also gave the school and opportunity to showcase the caliber of students both academically, and spiritually. What I enjoyed most were the interactions I had with all those whom I came into contact with during our amazing events.”

"The Dean's Delegate Program was one of
the highlights of my law school experience. Being selected as a Dean's Delegate created so many opportunities for me, including meeting business leaders of our community and being able to learn from their journeys and experiences. The Dean's Delegate Program was also an opportunity for me to give back to the school by sharing my law school experience with others dedicated and committed to the mission of the school."

- Madeleine BischelClass of 2020

"Becoming a Dean's Delegate has been an influential part of my law school career! It gave me the opportunity to hone my networking skills and encouraged me to get out of my shell. Being a dean's delegate has provided me with the opportunity to meet influential people to the legal industry, such as Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch. I would highly recommend that any student given the opportunity to become a Dean's Delegate, take that opportunity and serve in as many ways as possible!"

- Kathleen BryanClass of 2021

"Being a Dean's Delegate gives students more access to our Dean and faculty as well as to the local lawyers an influencers we host as speakers. Last year, I was among the delegates who heard from and met news anchor, Brett Baier, and received an autographed copy of his book. Being the face of Ave Law and meeting prominent members of the legal and professional community is a unique facet of the law school experience."

- Carmen TateClass of 2021

"As a Dean’s Delegate, I have been able to represent our school and really get a deeper appreciation for our donors. Since I am from out of state, this experience has helped me network with the local community and meet influential people I would not have had the opportunity to meet otherwise.”

- Paula HughesClass of 2021

"As a scholarship recipient, I felt it was my duty to give back to Ave Maria. Becoming a Dean’s Delegate was my way of “giving back” by sharing my experiences with others and enhancing the mission of our school. It was an honor and a privilege to serve in this capacity and an experience I hold very dear."

- Giselle GuzmanClass of 2020

“The Dean's Delegates program gave me the chance to meet and interact with a group of brilliant and diverse people.”
