International Legal and Political Perspectives

A panel discussion titled “The war in Ukraine: international legal and political perspectives” was held at Ave Maria School of Law.

Panelists included Kevin Govern, Academic Dean at Ave Law, Bartosz Lewandowski; Rector (President) of Collegium Intermarium University in Warsaw; Stefan Gehrold, a former member of European Parliament, off-counsel at DRRT law firm in Miami and Dr. Lidiya Zubytska, an Assistant Professor with the Department of Politics at Ave Maria University.

Panelists spoke about violations of international agreements, crimes of aggression, and domestic criminal codes. Implications for the region and the situation at the Polish border, Ukrainian EU-membership and Ukraine’s path to independence and democracy in the past 32 years were also discussed.

Ligia Castaldi, Professor of Law at Ave Law, moderated the event. The Student Bar Association sponsored the panel with a luncheon for students.
